CD Projekt Red sure knows how to hide things
You may have played The Witcher 3 to your heart’s content and completed the main storyline along with all the side quests and found many of the treasure chests, unique swords and armors. But you probably missed out on some of the best secrets in The Witcher 3 (they`re called secrets for a reason).
In this guide, I will reveal 15 of the biggest secrets in the game, which will reward epic loot and some of the coolest easter eggs.
So without further ado, let`s get started.
15. Witchers` Forge at Kaer Morhen
Book, coffee and a fireplace- best for chilly nights
Kaer Morhen is probably the most ignored place in the game. People used to overlook this place , completing only the main quest and rarely coming back.But what most people don`t realize is that, Kaer Morhen is home to some of the best secret quests in the game. I daresay secret, because most of them don`t even show a trace on the map.
The Book That Starts It All
Location : One of the secret quests in Kaer Morhen is the Witchers` Forge. To start this you`ll have to find a book in Kaer Morhen. And this isn`t just any book you`ll find lying around. There are spiral stairs just at the back of the kitchen in Kaer Morhen. Just ignore the stairs. Instead go from the opposite side of the entrance. There you will find the book, you seek, lying on a chest. As shown in the pic above.Once you pick the book up and start reading it, the quest will start.
Reward : The game doesn`t always give the same loot at the same place for different people. So what I`ve got may not necessarily be given to you. Anyhow, after you have successfully completed the quest you will find three armors of fairly high quality, not the best.
How to get the loot : After you`ve completed the quest, the loot doesn`t present itself. Instead, you`ll have to walk to the furnace, and remove the illusion there. Once the illusion is dealt with, a locker will be presented and in that locker the loot will be present.

14. Trial of Grasses at Kaer Morhen
*Spoiler alert : Trial of grasses is an extremely painful, if not fatal, process which young children and witcher apprentices are subjected to. This was done in order to mutate children into witchers.
Only 3 out of 10 babies survive the trial of grasses
Location : Among all the fascinating caves in Kaer Mohern, to the northwest is the one where witchers used to perform the Trial of Grasses. After you find the cave, you`ll have to fight your way past a horde of nekkers, after which you reach a room filled with equipment used to perform mutations.
Reward : Although you won`t be finding the best sword in the game or any material of such sort. What you will, however, find is a deeper understanding of and an emotional connection to Geralt.

13. Feline Steel Sword at Drahim Castle
The Feline Steel Sword
Drahim castle is one of the places easily overlooked in the game, because it is not shown on the map until you come close enough.
Location : After you`re done with your business with yenefer, you`ll start from hanged mans` tree towards the city of Norvigrad. Between the two you will have to pass through an island with a toll. It will require a pass. What you will want to do is just run along the corner of the island, which will allow you to reach the other side. After that if you continue along the way to big city, a little farther, and check your map, you`ll surely find the drahim castle.

Quests and Enemies : You`ll find quite a few quests to finish but most prominent would be “Contract the White Lady”. Mostly the enemies you`ll face would be the noonwraith, which are most of the time pretty easy to kill.
Reward : You`ll find many useful items ranging from leather straps to diagrams for weapons. The one item, noteworthy, is the Feline Steel Sword Diagram. With a damage of 153 , bleed chance of +5% and bonus experience from humans and non-humans : +5%, it is one of the better swords in the game. Also all the stuff needed to craft this sword is already present at drahim castle.

12. Leos’ Grave at Kaer Morhen
The Mourns when the loved ones die
This is one of those things which connect you emotionally to the characters. Especially if you have played the original Witcher and the Witcher 2.
Location : If you head on south from the fortress of Kaer Morhen. You’ll run into leos’ cenotaph.
Reward : As they say, rewards aren’t always materialistic. In this quest, the reward you’ll get is a better understanding of the characters. And if you are a veteran player, and have played the original Witcher and the Witcher 2, then it will bring a smile on your face and a tear in your eye.

How to get there:
11. Secret Cave Entrance at An Skellig
The cave entrance
Location : On the isle of An Skellig, just west of the Urialla Harbor, is a cave entrance marked on the map. The actual entrance marked is a hole in the ground that is too deep to safely enter, you will die if you tired to jump.
If you want to enter the cave, you`ll have to start a quest that you`ll find in the nearby town. It`s a warrior trial. The real entrance is near the quest giver.
Reward: You will have to transverse an underwater cave. If you emerge from the cave halfway through the cave, you will be greeted by gargoyles and then by bandits. After defeating them you will get a diagram for Broadhead bolt and a few other things and weapons.
Following are its perks.
- Applies Bleeding on impact
- Silver Damage +8
- Piercing Damage +8
- Effect Duration 15s

10. Farting Trolls Quest
Did I just hear a fart?
This quest is also not present on the map, so is a bit difficult to find. But you are sure to stumble upon it one way or another.
Location : As you head towards the eastern edge of the mountain range on the south east of Ard Skellige, you will find a cave. Enter it and you will start hearing distant farting. Head further and you`ll see 3 trolls named Joe, Jesse and Dodger.
Reward : Kill all three of the farting trolls and enter their room. There you will find the Ursine armor plans. The Ursine armor is a heavy armor with an AR of 120. And it has the following perks :-
- Adrenaline Point Gain 5%
- Piercing Res +5%
- Bludgeoning Res +5%
- Slashing Res +15%
- Monster Res +20%
Fun Fact: The three trolls were named after the three famous youtubers, Angry Joe, Jesse Cox and Dodger AKA Dexterity Bonus, Who also voiced the three respective trolls.
How to get there:
9. Secret Entrance to Lornruk Castle
The drawbridge is up
Location : Normally the first time you want to enter the Lornruk castle, the draw bridge will be up. The normal way of entering would be to dive underwater, defeating a few drowners and then finding your way into a secret underwater cave. But that is too much of a hassle.
So, the alternate method is to first locate the half broken wall just to the right of the draw bridge, as shown in the pic. Just get behind the wall and climb the rock behind it. Then jump and try to get a hold of the wall. This is a little tricky and will require a few tries. After you`ve climbed the wall, you can just jump into the castle
Reward : You will find the Griffin Silver Sword Diagram in this castle along with many items.
The Griffin Silver Sword has a damage of 180 , Bonus experience from monsters +20% and sign intensity +5% . The required level is 11.

8. Hidden Room in Vizima Palace
The secret room
Location : After meeting your old friend ,”your majesty”, at the royal palce of vizima, you will find yourself in the courtyard of the palace. If you go towards the area where a man is sitting and a woman is standing around a round table. Behind them is a wall with protruded stones. If you step close , you`ll see that you can press one of the stones. By pressing it a new room, to your left, will open.
Reward : There will be treasure chest in the room. Opening it will give you an enhanced saddle and an old letter. The enhanced saddle gives +25 stamina and has 125 orens and has a weight of 12 pounds

7. Secret passageway- pyres of novigrad
The Key to the secret entrance
Location : After entering the pyres of novigrad, to your right will be a room with a wandering monster. Kill the monster and loot the body. After that find the switch on the central pillar present in the room. Press the switch and a new door to a room will open. Continue into the room and you'll find yourself below a bridge. Walk under the bridge and you'll be taken to a new area. Dive underwater to find 2 hidden chests.
Reward : In one of the chest you'll find the Nilfgardians' long sword along with other items. With a damage of 85, it can prove a helpful companion in your adventures to come.

6. Secret Treasure Chest of White Orchard
Go through that hole
Location : Just go into the nilfgardian' garrison, just after entering through the gate, turn to your left and enter into the room with a guard in front. After entering turn to your right and carry on upwards on the stairs. After that go through the hole in the wall onto the planks.There you'll see a wall to your left. Just punch a hole right through it using telekinetic burst and jump through the wall, this might take a few tries. Now turning to your right, you will find a dead man with a key and a chest farther ahead.
Reward : After using the key to open the chest, you'll be greeted with quite a few crafting items and other helpful things. You also get a few weapon diagrams.

5. Illusion in loot cave at Cavern
Is it me or it`s dark in here?
Location : Just north to Novigrand, you will find a signpost named cavern. North of that you'll find a cave with a lvl 17 or 18 golem in it. So if you're not at that lvl, do not go in. After entering and defeating the golem, you'll find a little loot in the room. But that's not all. There is a wall in the room which is, in fact, an illusion. Get rid of that and you'll be greeted into a new cave.
Reward : After entering the new room, you'll find a massive stash of items. The loot will include Greater Devana Runestone, a Crossbow, Silk, Deriedath Sword, Disglair Sword and quite a few pair of trousers. This is apart from other common things. Disglair is a magic item, boasting a damage of 185

4. Secret Treasure at Crow's Nest
Now which one of these is Roach?
Location : Crow`s nest is a big area, and the Baron`s residence has a lot of loot to find – but the best chests are hidden. Start by going left of the Quartermaster and up the ladder. Then go to the top of the building by first climbing and then jumping into the room on the top.
After that head into the inner courtyard and then when you turn left, you should see wooden stairs leading to a ruined tower.
Just ahead of the tower are the stables. To enter the stables just climb the tower from above . After that go to the garden where you first met Baron in. There should be a well, go straight down using the ladder. The cave should be free of enemies.
Reward : Each of the above places, i.e the room on the top, the tower, the stables and the well will boast a massive stash of loot. There will be quite a few chests having diagrams for swords and armors.

3. Secret Treasure of Abandoned Tower
Still a long way to go
Location : In the White Orchard, you should be able to find an abandoned tower. There is no entrance to the castle. But what you can do is scale it. Firstly, try to climb the side of the tower on which the crumbling wall is built on. After reaching the window on the right side, jump on the stone slab and propel yourself to the ledge above. This may require a few tries.
Reward :On the Upper Platform , you should find yourself facing two chests with a ton of good loot.

2. Illusion in the wall of cave
With awesome magic come awesome graphics
Location : In the mission with Keira Metz, after she hands over the Eye of Nehaleni to geralt for removing illusions, just come back into the hall. After defeating Nithral, the opposite side with the elven lab is a blocked up doorway, which can be cleared using Aard. After that just use the eye of Nehaleni to disperse the illusion and go into the passageway thus created.
Reward : In the passageway, you`ll find quite a few chests containing few swords, sword diagrams and other cool stuff. Among all the other stuff, you will find a particularly strong sword which is guarded by a foglet.

1.Best Sword in the Game
Dem abs tho
This may not be a secret sword, but it sure is the best one, and is well hidden.
Location : When you are at Kaer Morhen , just go to the fast travel signpost. From there head south until you reach the Signal Tower. There should be ladder. Climb it all the way to the top. At the top , there should be a couple of chests waiting for you.
Reward : In one of the chests , you`ll find the diagram to Black Unicorn. It is a Relic item In the game. With a damage of 360-440, an Aard sign intensity of +10%, a 10% chance to cause bleeding and 3 runestone slots, this sword is sure to be a wonderful companion throughout the rest of the adventure.
