Information on the new Turing graphics was first released by Reuters back in February 2018 and since then there has been mainly rumors and speculations about it. Some say the Turing graphics card will be geared towards cryptocurrency miners or it will be taking Volta’s place and be the new GTX card. Until NVidia releases an official statement information will continue to be scarce.

The five most interesting facts every gamer should know:

1. The code name Turing comes from Alan Turing an English computer scientist, mathematician, logician and cryptanalyst. During World War II, he developed a machine that helped break the German Enigma code. He also laid the groundwork for modern computing and theorized about artificial intelligence

2. The Turing will succeed Pascal as the main gaming GPU architecture. The Turing will feature smaller, more efficient design.

3. The release of the Turing and the Ampere will be the first time NVidia has released two architectures at once. Most likely this has been done so the company can cater to gamers and cryptocurrency miners.

4. The Turing will offer more competition to AMD. AMD barely beat out NVidia’s Pascal GPU last year, so with the Volta, Turing, and Ampere coming out AMD may need to up their game to keep up with NVidia.

5. The new Turing GPU, along with the other products, will feature Ray Tracing which is the creation of lifelike images. It will take the different shadows and lights in the game into account and have the images react accordingly.

The release date for the Turing is scheduled for July, but there hasn’t been a specific date given yet.
