If you're playing Mass Effect 3, you're going to want your Commander Shepard to wear a helmet. There are several options you can make on your own, whether for practical or aesthetic reasons. But which ones are the best?

Sure, you could use the default N7 helmet all week, but doing so will cause you to miss out on a load of benefits that can really assist you in slaying Reaper and Cerberus foes alike.

Read on as we look at the top 5 helmets in the game, looking at the benefits of each and which class they will suit the best.

1. Kuwashii Visor

First up we have the Kuwashii Visor, which might look familiar as it is the helmet that most resembles the one Garus has. The Kuwashii is also relatively easy to find after you finish the mission Priority: Tuchanka make sure to visit the Aegohr Munitions store on the Citadel.

The best thing about this helmet is that it will give you a boost to your damage, and if you get a headshot, it is a 10% boost. This makes the helmet super useful for sniper rifle and pistol users.

Stats:

  • 5% Weapon damage
  • 10% Headshot damage

Best class:

  • Infiltrator
  • Soldier

2. Death Mask

Where to find the Death Mask During Priority: Tuchanka

Next up, we have the Death Mask. Ignoring the edgy name, this fashionable helmet is a great choice for those who like to get up close and personal. This helmet can be found either during Priority: Tuchanka or afterwards at the Cipritine Armory terminal on the Citadel.

This helmet provides a boost to your melee damage, so if you like to get in the face of your foes or are a shotgun user, then this helmet will be the perfect fit for you.

Stats:

  • 10% Melee Damage

Best class:

  • Vanguard
  • Soldier

3. Capacitor Helmet

Where to find the Capacitor Helmet

The Capacitor helmet might not be the prettiest, but if you feel a little bit too exposed while playing, you will be happy to have it. The helmet can be found during the N7: Cerberus Abductions side mission or can be purchased from the Aegohr Munitions terminal if you miss it.

This helmet will provide a boost to your shield regen, which can be useful for power-based classes that need to duck out of cover to attack.

Stats:

  • 10% Shield Regen Speed

Best class:

Any, but infiltrators may find it useful as shields don't regenerate while invisible.

4. Archon Visor

Where to get the Archon Visor

The Archon Visor is a great choice for power users. It can be collected during Priority: Geth Dreadnought or purchased afterwards from the Nos Astra Sporting Goods terminal on the Citadel.

This helmet is perfect for the classes that are reliant on their powers. This is because it will affect the recharge speed, so it can allow you to maybe go for a weapon that is a little heavier and deals a little more damage than you would normally.

  • 10% Power recharge speed

Best class:

  • Adept
  • Engineer
  • Sentinel

5. Umbra Visor

Where to find the Umbra Visor

The last helmet we have is the Umbra Visor. Although it is a little goofy looking, it is another great deal for power users. The Visor can be found during Priority: Thessia or purchased from Nos Astra Sporting Goods Terminal on the Citadel.

This helmet will allow your powers to deal more damage, to really make your Shepard destroy with biotic damage. This will also be useful for other classes, though, as powers can come in clutch in sticky situations.

Stats:

  • 10% Power Damage

Best class:

  • Adept
  • Engineer
  • Sentinel
