[Top 10] Destiny 2 Best Missions for Loot Every Player Should Do

Listen, there are many flavors of video games: survival games, crafting games, story games, role-playing games, platformers, fighting games, massive multiplayer online games, and loot games. Destiny 2 is (among other things) a loot game. Players will sell their souls for that juicy high-stat exotic armor or god-rolled raid weapon (took me over six hours to get an Oryx clear before reset, but the Explosive Payload/Incandescent Zaouli’s Bane with a Reload Speed Masterwork feels pretty darn worth it).

However, have you ever felt like you’re wasting your time on a useless activity that doesn’t give you any good loot? Well, sit down, my loot-hungry kinderguardian, because I’m about to go through the top ten activities to get that sweet loot for you to hoard like the greedy lightbearer you are. (*cough* Wilhelm-7 *cough*)

10. Prophecy

Prophecy is a free-to-play dungeon and is probably the easiest one to solo and contains some pretty decent loot. However, the armor is pretty meh looking (not the Moonfang stuff; you can only get one piece of that per week) and a lot of the guns are only good with specific perks. A nice dungeon to play for fun and loot, but there are definitely better options.

9. Deep Stone Crypt

Many call this the easiest raid in Destiny 2 currently, and while I’d disagree (Vault of Glass is easier, sue me), no one can deny the fact that it’s pretty easy overall and has some universally accepted pieces of loot in it. For example, Heritage is the go-to PvE kinetic slug shotgun, and Posterity is actually way better now that 180 Hand Cannons have gotten a buff. The lack of an origin trait or craftability hurts this activity, but it’s easy and fun and has great loot. What’s not to like?

8. Dares of Eternity

Dares only made this list because of its revamped origin trait on DoE weapons and the ability to craft them. It has some very good rewards to claim through little effort, but the main problem is that Dares of Eternity takes so long to complete. “Farming” is hilariously inefficient and can feel pretty unrewarding.

7. Legend and Master Lost Sectors

One word: exotics. There are select pieces of exotic armor that can only be found in Legend and Master difficulty Lost Sectors. If you catch a break, you can farm these pretty efficiently (when I last did so, it was 4 minutes on average per completion).

Unfortunately, these are not much good for anything else, so if you’re content on exotics these are pretty obsolete. Not a lot of replay value beyond getting a roll on an exotic that you want, but still…exotics are the coveted aspect of Destiny 2.

6. Duality

As Destiny 2’s newest dungeon, Duality brings a lot to the table for a three-player activity. First of all, in my opinion, it has the hardest difficulty of the four (Pit of Heresy, Grasp of Avarice, Prophecy, and Duality), but has a few pieces of much sought-after loot in its table.

Among them are Stormchaser, New Purpose, and Unforgiven. It also is the only dungeon (if you don’t count GoA) that has an exotic directly tied to its loot pool. The armor looks pretty sick too.

5. Grasp of Avarice

Hands down, this is the best dungeon. The sheer amount of fun that comes from playing this activity far outweighs that of Prophecy, Duality, or Pit of Heresy. However, we have loot to consider, but Grasp doesn’t let us down: it contains some of the best PvP weapons in the game, including Eyasluna, 1000-Yard Stare, and Matador 64.

And lest we forget, the mighty Gjallarhorn is obtained through a quest that requires you to go through this dungeon.

4. Vow of the Disciple

All things considered, this is a really tough raid. It’s relatively new, which means knowledge in the community has yet to circulate fully. But the weapons (most notably Cataclysmic, Insidious and Submission) are pretty god-tier in their viability in both PvP and PvE.

In addition, they can be crafted with enhanced traits. You can also farm for high-stat armor with the master version and adept versions of said weapons. A tough task? Maybe. But a small price for loot.

3. Grandmaster Nightfalls

There are a lot more Grandmaster Nightfall guides out there, but this video will tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

Imagine that a Master Lost Sector had a baby with a Master Nightfall. You’d get something like a Grandmaster Nightfall: your go-to farming spot for Ascendant Shards, exotics, and Adept Vanguard weapons.

However, they can be pretty challenging without proper loadouts and coordination. Champions may be annoying, but getting two golf balls, two exotics, and two adept Mindbender’s Ambitions on a single run makes the euphoria run like nothing else.

2. Trials of Osiris

Undeniably the most challenging activity for loot in the game, Adept Trials weapons are pieces of a guardian’s weaponry that few claim. The amount of pure FLEX that these weapons afford is almost mind-breaking, and especially if you can get a *decent* roll on an Adept Eye of Sol.

There are ways of getting Trials loot even if you’re bad at it (Passage of Wealth + Patience + Double Trials EXP weekend = tons of sweet loot) and I would recommend doing this even if you’re new to the game. Just remember the axiom of Captain Steve Rogers: “I can do this all day.”

1. King’s Fall

New? Old? Eh, it doesn’t matter. All I know is that I’ve spent 21 hours in this raid over two weekends and I have just three clears and a handful of weapons to show for it. Maybe it’s a rising wave of stupidity, an inability to choose correct loadouts, or just incompetence, but this raid is just so challenging.

It’s actually kind of ridiculous how hard this raid is, when the mechanics are so simple. But the loot is amazing: I would say, in all honesty, that the loot is better for PvE in general, but it can also be utilized in PvP. The Touch of Malice smacks pretty hard on raid bosses, Zaouli’s Bane and Doom of Chelchis are best-in-slot for PvE, Smite of Merain’s got something for everyone, Defiance of Yasmin is great all around, and Qullim’s Terminus is (*gasp*) actually good!

If you’re stout and determined, these weapons can be yours—provided you can make amendments to your sleep schedule, relationship issues, and all-round sanity.
