Horror games have a knack for scaring us way more than any movie can. What’s scarier than being a part of the story you’re experiencing?
While fear isn’t for everyone. We all know we have a friend or two that’s absolutely obsessed. They live for the thrill. They want to have demons, monsters, ghosts and zombies that make them pee their pants a little.
We’re lucky enough in 2022 to have the taste of fear at our fingertips.
Here’s a super rad list of the most energizing horror games Android has to offer!

15. Rest in Pieces

In “Rest in Pieces” we must awaken Georgina from her nightmare caused by a maniacal clown. To do so, we must venture through a dark dreamscape full of demons and lost souls.
As we’re dragged through a horrendously, terrifying world we must swing porcelain figurines without shattering them. In doing so, we save the innocent souls that are trapped and wake Georgina up from various dreams.
There are also a ton of throwbacks to horror and adventure stories we know so very well. From drunken pirates and Krakens to Lugosi and Dracula.
There’s no way this game won’t give you a taste of nostalgia and boost your adrenaline all the while. I know I always get the warm and fuzzy’s whenever I see my favorite characters come back to life.
14. Didi

In Didi, you find yourself trapped in a truly terrifying house. There are booby traps, loud noises and jump scares around every corner.
If you’re the type of person that loves movies like “Don’t Breathe” or “The People Under the Stairs”, then this is the game for you. You’ll be filled with adrenaline-fueled anticipation and find yourself on the edge of your seat.
The game’s plot is that after waking up from a nightmare you must sneak through the house, exploring various rooms with puzzles and hints leading you to your escape.
With phenomenal graphics and an exceptional storyline, I can assure you won’t be disappointed.
13. True Fear: Forsaken Souls

As far as point-and-click games go, “True Fear” is about as wicked as they come.
You play as a woman named Holly Stonehouse, who becomes a repeat character throughout the trilogy. She finds herself walking down a foggy boulevard towards some flickering candles. Once you see the source of the candles there’s a giant creepy house that’s been sealed shut for over 2 decades.
The aim of the game is to find your sister who’s been trapped inside the house. You know there’s a stranger in there waiting for you. I love the mystery and clues, and the eerie vibe.
As someone who finds jump scares to be effective this game did its job of giving me quite a terrifying thrill
If you find the dark and fear of the unknown to be exhilarating, “True Fear” will not disappoint.
12. Limbo

“Limbo” was the first horror game I ever played on my phone. Being the huge lover of adventure games that I am, it was the perfect place to start. It’s one of the best side scrollers I have ever seen on any phone, hands down.
You play a young boy who’s trapped in a creepy black and white landscape, full of obstacles and tricky puzzles. The goal is to rescue your sister from the monsters and an eerie world that appears to be made of all your worst nightmares.
The one thing I would point out is that the game is rather difficult to play on your phone. I’d be curious to play it on PC and see if it would be easier. There are a lot of quick movements and tricky jumps that I’m pretty sure could be orchestrated with a keyboard or controller better.
Other than that the originality and beauty of the game alone, make it one of the best horror games I’ve ever seen on a mobile device.
11. Case: Animatronics

“Case” is another stealth horror game that’s don’t extremely well. Due to it being an IGN game that was originally made for Playstation, Xbox and PC, its graphics are incredible. There arebold colors and flashing lights. The aesthetic alone will keep you entranced.
Another horror game where you find yourself trapped in the dark with lights that guide you. You play as a detective, named John Bishop, who finds himself working the night shift when the power goes out and strange things start to happen.
Shortly after the power goes out, you notice a presence with glowing red eyes is following you. You can hear grinding metal gears and realize someone is controlling murderous animatronics to find you. You must escape their wrath and find a way out of the once-up-a-time safe haven that is your department.
If you’re a fan of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” or creepy doll movies then “Case: Animatronics” will give you the ride you’re looking for!
10. Eyes: Scary Thriller

After playing a ton of horror games, I’ve come to realize that the general theme often has to do with escape and you’re almost always trapped in the dark. “Eyes” ain’t any different.
With an incredible soundtrack and amazing visuals (considering it’s a mobile game). You find yourself playing a hero, named Charlie, who’s trying to make his way through a haunted mansion to escape the monster.
This game consists of a lot of running, rather than sneaking and is full of some of the most terrifying creatures I’ve ever seen in a phone game.
“Eyes: Scary Thriller” is all about atmosphere. There are rotting rooms full of corpses and decaying flesh, moving walls and tons of creepy monsters.
There are also a ton of levels and bonuses you can find in the game!
9. Granny
(Requires iOS 10.0 or later and Android 4.4 or later. Also available on Steam)

The first in a two-part series, “Granny” is a truly hair-raising survival game. A spooky grandma is after you but you don’t know why.
It has mediocre graphics that are part of the charm. If you’re a horror fan, you know what I mean. Some things are meant to look unpolished.
I don’t know what it is but there’s something extremely creepy about a decrepit old woman following you around a dark house. After seeing the movie “X” I can relate even more.
For an old woman, this granny sure moves fast. No matter where you find yourself in the game, she is always one step behind you, ready to bash your brains in.
While there isn’t much to the game, its simplicity, effects and sound give it the eerie effects you need to get the scare you crave.
8. Metel Horror Escape
(Available on Android 4.4 and up and on Steam)

“Metel Horror Escape” is a 3D, first-person, adventure game that’s littered with tricky puzzles and various characters to choose from.
After waking up confused and alone, trapped in a cage, you realize there’s a crazed maniac after you. Once again the goal is to escape by finding clues and being cautious.
There are a bunch of different tools you find to help you escape. After finding them they stay in your inventory, giving the game its first-person aspect. It really is a lot of fun when games mix up different styles.
It’s definitely not a boring game, with crazy hard puzzles and the lunatic being near impossible to escape. There’s a spooktacular surprise around every corner.
If you love a challenge and fear, “Metel Horror Escape” is the game for you.
7. True Fear: Forsaken Souls 2

Holly Stonehouse is back and trying to figure out what went wrong the first time around. Does she even have a sister? There’s a lot to figure out, as we sneak through the eerie house looking for clues and trying to escape.
The sequel to “True Fear: Forsaken Souls 2” does not disappoint. Just like its former, we are met with a horror mystery, full of puzzles and terror.
They do a great job of drawing out the story, while adding more jump scares, more puzzles and WAY better graphics.
I haven’t played the third one yet… but I can bet it lives up to the reputation.
6. 3 Days to Die

“3 Days to Die” is an awesome throwback to one of the most famous horror classics, “Friday the 13th”. We’re being chased by a killer that looks just like Jason, but with a red mask. He even has the machete, which really gives the game that iconic charm.
With eerie sound effects, smooth controls and reasonably good graphics for an Android game. We find ourselves trapped in another tropey room, with blood splattered all over the place.
Our goal is to escape the murderous prisoner while relying heavily on sound and clues. Headphones would be a good idea to get the true experience.
If creepy sounds and suspense are what curls your toes…”3 Days to Die” is a super fun ride that will give you the fix you’re looking for.
5. Endless Nightmare
(Requires iOS 10.0 or later. and Android 4.4 or later)

The first in a trilogy and the scariest of all three. “Endless Nightmare” is another survival game where you have to escape a haunted house that’s full of flashing lights and terrifying visuals.
You play a police officer going by the name of James. His family was just murdered in their own home and your goal is to uncover the mystery of what happened.
If you’ve ever played “LA Noire”, it’s basically a mini, haunted version of that game. Tons of objects to inspect and use, lots of clues, and a murderous crime solved at the end. The difference is there are ghosts, jumpscares and fear hiding around every corner.
The visuals are phenomenal and the effects are beyond terrifying. If the supernatural and mystery tickle your fantasy, don’t hesitate before giving “Endless Nightmare” a whirl.
4. Scary Mansion

Again with the haunted house trope that we have learned to love so much. “Scary Mansion” does the job perfectly.
With a terrifying maniac, puzzles, and an escape goal just like many others. “Scary Mansion” proves that this same old story never gets worn out. There are some pretty awesome 3D visuals and it’s quite a bit more fast-paced than some of the other horror games.
You play a postman who’s been kidnapped by an evil genius. You must dismantle various traps, hide, and solve numerous puzzles. I love adventure games like this… they make you think and give you a thrill.
Download “Scary Mansion” if you want a more fast-paced, slasher thrill. Or if you like games that have a little bit of everything.
3. Antarctica 88
(Available on Android 4.4 and up and on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Playstation)

My favorite thing about “Antarctica 88” is that they were bold enough to use a Demogorgon. It is a fantastic marketing ploy and they really are so effectively scary. If you are a fan of “Stranger Things”, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The Demogorgon was a wicked selling point, but it’s not the only scary monster you find yourself running into. This game is littered with terrifying monsters and takes place in an icy, cold station called Antarctica 1.
The goal is to figure out why the expedition your father started has come to a halt. Reminiscent of the classic sci-fi horror movie, “The Thing”, this is hands down one of the most original, scary and creative horror games I’ve seen.
2. The Walking Dead: Survivors
(Requires iOS 10.0 or later. and Android 4.4 or later)

After playing “The Walking Dead: Survivors” it’s hard to believe this is a game made for mobile. The graphics, storyline and depth of the game are off the charts.
It’s a PvP game where you join a clan and grow your clan with more survivors, while defeating zombies, gathering supplies and building settlements.
If you’re a fan of the classic show then you’ll love this game no matter what. There’s Daryl, the whole crew and lots of recognizable spots you’ll be excited to see.
“The Walking Dead: Survivors” is an incredible horror game with a ton of nostalgia and endless gameplay. There ain’t much better than fighting zombies and seeing some nostalgic characters along the way.
1. Five Nights at Freddy’s

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” has to be one of the most well-known and popular horror games out there. When the game came out in 2014, it took off and there has been a massively, successful series of the games since.
” Five Nights at Freddy’s is probably the best introduction to horror for older kids and teenagers. And the start of animatronics appearing in various movies and games in a murderous aspect since then.
The style is a point and click and the idea of the game is rather simple. You find yourself working in Freddy’s pizza shop, which is filled with seemingly friendly robots. At night things take a turn and you need to protect yourself without using up all of the electricity. There are surveillance cameras, and automatic doors that use up your electricity, so the goal is to be frugal with it and use it resourcefully. Can you survive these freaky nights?
Ironically, for Android, five nights end up being only two… as the original game is rather large. But you’ll still have fun and it’s pretty rad to be able to play it on the go. Deserving of all of the success it’s had…if you’re a fan of horror games…my guess is you’ve already played.
