Welcome back everyone, we’re nearing the end of our series of character builds so why not go with someone relatively new to the roster. Today I want to introduce Mai the enchanted tailor. She is a whip character who has a more support-like kit than other characters in the game. However with in-built immortality or point and click lockdown she goes nuts in a team.

While not the best at solo her team play allows for an easy setup and easy pick-offs, she has bonus damage based on her defense stat and a whole slew of skills that allow her to stack up that defense. She is tanky and surprisingly hits harder the longer she fights. So if you like skillfully drawn-out fights then she is your girl.

3. Matu Makisa’s Test Mai build

Test Test

This build focuses on defense and HP. It is intended to maximize survivability and use the bonus damage from Mai’s passive to outlast enemies in a fight. This build is rather slow to start so try to avoid fights until you finish your build, however, you can still hunt and fight animals so make sure to keep up with weapon levels.

Personally I only ever play Mai as a team player, both in duos and squads, she can exert an insane amount of pressure when fighting both 2 vs 1 and 2 vs 2. The problem is that she is not that strong as a solo, she is much slower and relies on CC to kill. This means that unless the enemy wants to try and fight you to the death they usually can force an escape unless you time your stuns well.

Build Path

You want to build Plasma Whip+ Battle Suit + Helm of the Banneret + Sword Stopper + Feather Boots + Music Box.

To do this you go to Cemetary>Chapel>Factory>School>Alley. You are meant to fight minimally, focusing on easy to pick off animals such as Chickens or Wild Dogs.

Skill Tree

You start with your W then get a point into both Q and E then Max Passive>W>R>Q>E unless you are playing with a party then you max Passive>R>E>W>Q . in a party this allows you to maximize your shielding and CC on enemies while in solo it is more of a dueling build.

For your Augments, you go Havoc and Fortification taking Vampiric Bloodline as your Core Augment and Stopping power, Quench, Embolden, and Reinforced Armor.

2. Goldblin4

Stats Mean most things

Goldblin4’s build on Mai has less HP but more Defense and Skill damage reduction. Rather than making her outlast attacks, this build is more focused on mitigating the damage dealt and increasing the bonus damage we get from Mai’s Haute Couture.

It has more movement speed than the last build however it is easier to kill than the last. The bonus damage is significantly more however so in theory, this build is more of a brawler than a tank. It is also more viable in solo as it is a 4 zone build and allows you to fight earlier since you pick up your main weapon by the second zone.

Build Path

You want to go Plasma Whip + Optical Camouflage Suit+ Vigilante + Creed of the Knight + Bucephalus + Laced Quiver.

To do this you have to go Hospital>Dock>Chapel> Cemetery this is pretty fast so you can start fighting people with weaker gear and weapon level by your second zone. Especially since you have the stats to take less damage and deal more at the same time.

Skill Tree

You start with W then go Q E then max Passive>Q>E>W>R just make sure to get 1 point into your ultimate in case you need to make an escape.

As for Augments, you go Fortification and Havoc; getting Diamond Shard as your Core Augment, along with Embolden, Reinforced Armor, Stopping power, and Quench.

1. 1124 Ash’s Defence Skill Amp

Defense is the best Offense

1124 Ash’s build allows you to quickly find your items and cap out while finding your extension items such as bloody nine tails or the Mai exclusive item Phantom Jacket. It has a mix of defense and SP regen, with a sprinkle of movement speed and skill amp for that extra spice.

While this build seems to try and attain a lot of stats without going too far into it, it relies on the natural defense and item defense bonuses to stay alive while constantly casting skills to keep enemies at bay. This build works best in squads and duos but surprisingly also works in solos to get within the top 3.

Build Path

You get Plasma Whip+ Battle Suit + Helm of the Banneret + Sword Stopper + EOD Boots + Uchiwa.

To do this you go to School> Alley> Avenue> Hotel. Go fast as you are only ready by the third zone and be sure to hunt animals along the way to keep your weapon level high.

Skill Tree

You start W then get E and Q then max Passive>Q>W>E>R be sure to get at least 1 point into R and a few cameras so that you can dash to it with your E.

For Augments, you go Support and Havoc; taking Healing Drone as your Core Augment. Then go Thorn Shackles, Logistics, Stopping Power, and Quench. This keeps you extremely healthy while fighting so go and win to your heart’s content.
