Shards not to be confused with the aghanim's shard are Dota Plus shards that you get if you are subscribed to the dota plus system that the game has.

Dota plus basically helps you in your game with real time suggestions and counter pick strategies, it is not a cheat, a way to introduce new or confused players to get better at the game.

Recently Dota plus shards are now available to all players whether they have the subscription or not, if you are not a subscriber then you can get a certain number of shards by winning 3 games in a row, dota plus will also let you use heroes’s wheel chat.

How it works:

Win three games in a row to gain shards.
Buy sets and items from the earned points.
